Push for Evans

Austin American-Statesman - - SPORTS -

George Hincapie is determined to help two- time Tour de France runner-up Cadel Evans finish in the top five. Evans has been riding in pain for several days after breaking his left el- bow in a crash on Sunday in the Alps.

The 33-year-old Australian is in 18th place overall, more than eight minutes behind race leader Andy Schleck, and has virtually no chance of a podium place. Hincapie, though, remains optimistic that the BMC Racing Team will do all it can to move Evans up the overall classification before the race ends July 25.

“We still believe Cadel can be in the top five,” he said. “He just has to get back to the level he was coming into the Tour. We have full confidence he can do that.”
