In­cum­bent start­ing quar­ter­back Zac Lee, who started 12 games last sea­son, has the edge head­ing into camp af­ter off­sea­son surgery to re­pair a ten­don in the el­bow of his throw­ing arm.

But sopho­more Cody Green, who started two games, and red­shirt fresh­man Tay­lor Martinez, who sparkled in the spring, could press Lee if the se­nior fal­ters. It’s ex­pected to be a hot con­test for the job.

Lee threw for 2,143 yards in 2009, the fifth­high­est to­tal in school his­tory.
