Ex­er­cise has al­ways been an im­por­tant part of my life, and now I am reap­ing the re­wards. I took up yoga about 6 years ago and at­tend a class twice weekly. I use the weight and el­lip­ti­cal ma­chines at the YMCA three times a week. I took up clog­ging about 14 years ago and dance weekly with the Click­ety Clog­gers. In the sum­mer I swim reg­u­larly, prefer­ably at Deep Eddy Pool or Barton Springs. I also walk two miles daily with my dog. All of this keeps me in shape so that I can climb the South Rim at Big Bend Na­tional Park, where I go ev­ery Fe­bru­ary with a group of women. It is a won­der­ful feel­ing to wake up ev­ery morn­ing feel­ing fit and able to do what­ever I want to do with­out aches and pains. It is def­i­nitely worth­while for a per­son to make a com­mit­ment to her health early on in life! Grow­ing older does not nec­es­sar­ily mean giv­ing up phys­i­cal ac­tiv­ity.
