May traf­fic at ABIA rises 6% from pre­vi­ous year

Pas­sen­ger traf­fic at AustinBergstrom In­ter­na­tional Air­port was up 6 per­cent in May from the year ear­lier.

More than 733,000 peo­ple flew through Austin’s air­port that month.

Among ma­jor car­ri­ers, traf­fic was up 4.5 per­cent at South­west Air­lines, down 9 per­cent at No. 2 Amer­i­can Air­lines and up 7 per­cent at Con­ti­nen­tal Air­lines.

Delta Air Lines traf­fic was up 22 per­cent, and JetBlue Air­ways moved into fifth place, with a 36 per­cent gain.

United Air­lines fell to sixth, with a 9 per­cent in­crease.

For the first five months of the year, air­port pas­sen­ger traf­fic was up 5.5 per­cent, to 3.3 mil­lion, com­pared with 2009.
