Kevin Fowler has as­sem­bled quite a sup­port­ing cast for the third an­nual Fowler Fest, with a trio of up-and-com­ing coun­try hunks. AAron WAt­son the smooth-croon­ing Amar­illo na­tive — and big Clay Walker fan — is on a roll with lat­est al­bum ‘An­gels & out­laws.’ Like Ja­son Aldean, Wat­son as­pired to be a ma­jor-league base­ball player be­fore a ca­reer-end­ing in­jury. But un­like Aldean, Wat­son hasn’t yet hit the big time. He has the voice and the songs to even­tu­ally get there. KyLe PArK 2008’s ‘Any­where In texas’ put this san Mar­cos-based hat act on the mod­ern honky-tonk cir­cuit. But the stu­dio rat con­tin­ues to work hard, vow­ing to re­lease a four-song eP of orig­i­nal ma­te­rial ev­ery three months dur­ing the next year. When that run is over, fans will pick which songs make it to the next al­bum. Cur­tIs GrIMes Last year, Kenny Ch­es­ney spon­sored a ‘next Big star’ con­test, with the win­ner to open for Ch­es­ney at the er­win Cen­ter. Grimes won. the 23-year-old from up­shur County is still fairly green, but he has a great band and could be mov­ing on to ten­nessee be­fore too long.
