U.N. adds U.S.-born cleric to terrorist list
The United Nations has added U.S.-born radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki to its terrorist list, forcing member countries to freeze his assets and ban his travel. Awlaki has been linked to the suspects in the Fort Hood shootings and the Christmas Day attempt to take down a Detroit-bound airliner. The U.N. move follows similar actions by the U.S. Treasury last week. Awlaki is thought to be hiding in Yemen.
