Seattle wins 10th straight game, rallying to defeat San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO — Lauren Jackson, Sue Bird and La’Coe Willingham hit key fourth-quarter three-pointers Tuesday as the Seattle Storm extended their winning streak to 10 by rallying to defeat the San Antonio Silver Stars 80-74.
Seattle (19-2) is off to the second-best start in WNBA history. The now-defunct Houston Comets opened the 1998 season 19-1 and were 25-2 before their third loss.
Sophia Young scored 12 of her teamhigh 18 points for San Antonio in the first half.
Ticha Peni- cheiro had a career-best 13 assists, one on Noelle Quinn’s tiebreaking basket with 30 seconds left in overtime, leading the Sparks past the Shock.
Cappie Pondexter scored six of her game-high 24 points in overtime as the Liberty beat the Sun 82-74.
