‘Pure’ history

Austin American-Statesman - - OPINION -

The recent diatribes published in this newspaper regarding the development of the United States through driving the native Indians off of their land and the use of human slaves as labor presented these historical facts in such a manner as to make it appear that all of this was an American phenomena.

All of written history, including the Bible, is replete with chronicles of these types of actions by those with the power to take such actions. Blaming the citizens of the United States as if they had perpetrated something otherwise unknown to mankind is either pure prejudice or simply ignorance.

If those of you who feel so strongly feel ashamed of such a history, go find some country, if you can, that has been “pure” in its development.
