Landowner charged in death

A well-known El Paso landowner has been ar­rested in a fa­tal hit-and-run case.

Po­lice said Wil­liam “Billy” Abra­ham was ar­rested Tues­day night af­ter hit­ting a pedes­trian with his car and flee­ing the scene. The 54-year-old was ar­rested on charges of in­tox­i­ca­tion man­slaugh­ter and be­ing in­volved in an ac­ci­dent caus­ing per­sonal in­jury or death.

Po­lice said Abra­ham’s car struck Jay Grady, 47, as Grady walked across a busy road about 9:40 p.m. Tues­day. A U.S. Border Pa­trol agent fol­lowed Abra­ham, the owner of sev­eral down­town El Paso build­ings, for more than five miles be­fore he fi­nally pulled over.

Abra­ham is free on $60,000 bail.
