2 U.S. troops die in helicopter crash
KABUL — Two U.S. service members were killed in a helicopter crash in Helmand province, the third fatal chopper crash in southern Afghanistan in less than two months. Taliban forces claimed to have shot down the aircraft. The NATO force said an investigation was under way but that hostile fire couldn’t be ruled out. The latest Associated Press tally lists at least 1,113 U.S. troops deaths in the Afghan war, including at least 883 considered combat deaths by the Pentagon.
