Inmate indicted in judge threat
A 57-year-old federal prison inmate has been charged with threatening a federal judge in San Antonio.
John W. Manning of Houston is serving a two-year sentence in a Beeville prison for theft. A federal grand jury in San Antonio said in an indictment that Manning, angry with District Judge Orlando Garcia, mailed a letter to him threatening to harm him after Manning’s release, which had been scheduled for Thursday.
If convicted, Manning could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
