AT&T profit, outlook brighten

Austin American-Statesman - - BUSINESS & PERSONAL FINANCE -

AT&T Inc. said that its earnings rose 26 percent in its most recent quarter and raised its forecast for the year, helped by its iPhonefueled wireless arm and cost-cutting.

The country’s largest telecommunications provider said it now expects a strong increase in earnings over last year, compared with its previous forecast of “stable to improved” results. Dallas-based AT&T also posted its firstever decline in wired broadband subscribers, capping a decade of growth.
