Infant’s body discovered in attic
Police say an infant boy’s mummified body was found stuffed in an ice chest in the attic of a Panhandle home.
Police Lt. Gary Trupe said renters of the house were installing a ceiling fan when they discovered the body in a small, tightly sealed plastic ice chest Monday.
Authorities estimated the boy’s age at 3 months to 1 year and said that his body had been in the attic five or six years.
The Amarillo Globe-News reported Friday that police are questioning a man in connection with the case.
Officers suspect the body is Miguel Nunez, born in 2003 and missing since 2004. Nunez’s family lived in the house about the time he disappeared.
