In­fant’s body dis­cov­ered in at­tic

Po­lice say an in­fant boy’s mum­mi­fied body was found stuffed in an ice chest in the at­tic of a Pan­han­dle home.

Po­lice Lt. Gary Trupe said renters of the house were in­stalling a ceil­ing fan when they dis­cov­ered the body in a small, tightly sealed plas­tic ice chest Mon­day.

Au­thor­i­ties es­ti­mated the boy’s age at 3 months to 1 year and said that his body had been in the at­tic five or six years.

The Amar­illo Globe-News re­ported Fri­day that po­lice are ques­tion­ing a man in con­nec­tion with the case.

Of­fi­cers sus­pect the body is Miguel Nunez, born in 2003 and missing since 2004. Nunez’s fam­ily lived in the house about the time he dis­ap­peared.
