Plastics protest

Austin American-Statesman - - METRO & STATE -

Suzan Zaghmouth, 20, came from Houston to the University of Texas to help protest H2Orange bottled water on Friday and to ask the university to promote reusable water bottles over disposable plastic ones. Sales of the water in a bottle shaped like the UT Tower will help raise scholarship money. Protesters said the bottle undermines Austin’s Zero Waste Goal and UT Campus Sustainability Policy. H2Orange co-founders Steve Gurasich and Tim McClure said that the bottle is 100 percent recyclable and that the company has bought carbon credits, which fund projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gases, through Green Mountain Energy.
