Uni­ver­sity of Texas ath­letic di­rec­tor, has been se­lected to re­ceive the Dis­tin­guished Ser­vice Award by the Texas Exes, the alumni as­so­ci­a­tion for the Uni­ver­sity of Texas. The award is the high­est honor that can be be­stowed on a non­alum­nus of the uni­ver­sity.

A grad­u­ate of Kansas State Uni­ver­sity, Dodds is en­ter­ing his 30th year as Texas’ ninth men’s ath­let­ics di­rec­tor.

Dur­ing his ten­ure, the Longhorns have claimed 13 na­tional cham­pi­onships and 101 con­fer­ence (South­west and Big 12) ti­tles in nine sports.

Dodds was in­stru­men­tal in rais­ing the funds needed to update and ex­pand fa­cil­i­ties such as Royal-Me­mo­rial Sta­dium and UFCU Disch-Falk Field, as well as to build new ones such as the Mike A. My­ers Track and Soc­cer Sta­dium and the Den­ton A. Coo­ley Pavil­ion for bas­ket­ball prac­tice. He also cre­ated the Longhorn Foun­da­tion.

The Texas Exes was founded in 1885.
