DoDDS to reCeive ServiCe awarD
University of Texas athletic director, has been selected to receive the Distinguished Service Award by the Texas Exes, the alumni association for the University of Texas. The award is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a nonalumnus of the university.
A graduate of Kansas State University, Dodds is entering his 30th year as Texas’ ninth men’s athletics director.
During his tenure, the Longhorns have claimed 13 national championships and 101 conference (Southwest and Big 12) titles in nine sports.
Dodds was instrumental in raising the funds needed to update and expand facilities such as Royal-Memorial Stadium and UFCU Disch-Falk Field, as well as to build new ones such as the Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium and the Denton A. Cooley Pavilion for basketball practice. He also created the Longhorn Foundation.
The Texas Exes was founded in 1885.
