Drug traces found in mom, son in fire
NEW YORK — A single mother and her teenage son apparently ingested a drug before dying in a suspected murder-suicide and arson that killed three other children in their Staten Island apartment, two law enforcement officials said. Pills were found in the stomachs of Leisa Jones and the teen during autopsies last week, said the officials. Police have said the teen’s and two other children’s throats were slit. The New York Times reported that traces of smoke were found in the mother’s lungs, suggesting that she was alive when the house was set ablaze.
