Ex-coun­cil­man to run for mayor

Daniel Guer­rero, who served on the San Mar­cos City Coun­cil for four years, has an­nounced that he’s run­ning for mayor.

Guer­rero, 33, was on the coun­cil from May 2004 to Novem­ber 2008. He is the ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the San Mar­cos Ed­u­ca­tion Foun­da­tion. He’s also a grad­u­ate of San Mar­cos High School and Texas State Uni­ver­sity, where he re­ceived a bach­e­lor’s de­gree in mass com­mu­ni­ca­tions with an em­pha­sis in pub­lic re­la­tions. Guer­rero earned a mas­ter’s in or­ga­ni­za­tional lead­er­ship and ethics from St. Ed­ward’s Uni­ver­sity in Austin.

Other may­oral can­di­dates are Coun­cil Mem­ber John Thomaides and Daniel McCarthy, who ran for mayor and lost in 2008. In­cum­bent Mayor Su­san Nar­vaiz hasn’t an­nounced whether she’ll run.
