Barry Bone was sworn in Mon­day as the new­est mem­ber of the Rolling­wood City Coun­cil. The coun­cil voted 3-2 last week to ap­point Bone, who has led the Rolling­wood Util­ity Com­mis­sion and ran un­suc­cess­fully for a coun­cil spot in the May 8 elec­tion. The open­ing on the coun­cil was cre­ated af­ter Al­der­man Bill Hamil­ton was elected mayor in May.

Al­der­men John Hin­ton and Shan­thi Jayaku­mar and Mayor Hamil­ton voted in fa­vor of ap­point­ing Bone; Al­der­men Rox­anne McKee and Sara Hut­son voted against. The mayor nor­mally does not vote, but did so to break a tie.

Kelli Carl­ton, who leads the Rolling­wood Park Com­mis­sion and also ran un­suc­cess­fully for a coun­cil spot in May, and Leslie Davis, who served on the coun­cil from 2001 to 2007, also ap­plied for the open seat. The coun­cil voted 3-1 last month to ap­point an al­der­man by an ap­pli­ca­tion process. McKee voted against the move.
