Mom’s ears, dad’s stripes
A zedonk, a rare cross between a female donkey and a male zebra, is attracting attention at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in Dahlonega, Ga., after being born last week. She has black stripes prominently displayed on her legs and face. The foal has a zebra’s instincts, sitting up instead of lying on her side, as if she’s staying alert for predators, preserve founder C.W. Wathen says.
