Reed wins boys title; LaBarbera takes girls
Zwartynski, pressley in women’s Am final
HORSESHOE BAY — Curtis Reed of Castroville shot a final round 3-under-par 68 to win the 83rd Texas Boys State Junior Championship. Reed, 18, shot rounds of 69-76-68 to finish at even-par 213.
Reed birdied the 17th hole, and Roman Robledo of Harlingen was unable to do that.
After a perfect drive on No. 18, Robledo needed to hole his wedge shot for an eagle to force a tie. The ball nearly missed going in for the future Houston Cougar.
Two Austin golfers — Dylan Shephard and Brenden Redfern — finished third and fourth.
Sheppard went 70-73-74 for a 217, four strokes behind. Redfern had a 77-70-72 for a 219.
