Vaughan leads U.S. Se­nior Open with 66

SAM­MAMISH, Wash. — Bruce Vaughan shot 4-un­der 66 to take a two-stroke lead over Loren Roberts and am­a­teur Tim Jack­son in the U.S. Se­nior Open.

Vaughan, the 2008 Se­nior Bri­tish Open cham­pion, made just two bo­geys in a steady round at tree-en­gulf­ing Sa­halee Coun­try Club.

Bern­hard Langer, the Bri­tish Se­nior Open win­ner Sun­day, was three strokes back at 69 along with Mark Cal­cavec­chia, Joe Ozaki and Michael Allen. Fred Cou­ples, the home- town fa­vorite, and Tom Wat­son opened with 70s.
