Tea party explained

Austin American-Statesman - - OPINION -

Re: July 28 commentary “Will GOP swallow the tea party?”

Most tea party members are older, mature and educated enough to realize what this nation stands for because they work or have worked in the past, not existed off welfare.

We respect the Constitution and laws of this nation. In November, we will have a choice. We simply refuse to support radical changes in our form of government, deficit spending, government health care, redistribution of wealth, illegal immigration and other issues that Democrats want to force upon us.

We love America just the way it is and are angry about what government changes are doing to states and our nation. The purpose of the tea party is to remind Americans about what it means to be an American. Americans need to become more responsible, not more dependent on government services.
