His­tor­i­cal Com­mis­sion seeks mem­bers

Res­i­dents have through Dec. 21 to ap­ply to serve on the Hays County His­tor­i­cal Com­mis­sion.

Mem­bers serve two-year terms and must be able to at­tend meet­ings ev­ery fourth Thurs­day of the month. They’re also ex­pected to take an ac­tive role in the projects of the com­mis­sion, which works to pro­mote the preser­va­tion of the county’s his­tor­i­cal re­sources, in­clud­ing ar­chaeo- log­i­cal sites. The com­mis­sion’s ac­tiv­i­ties range from plac­ing of­fi­cial state his­tor­i­cal mark­ers to re­search­ing the his­tory of the county to of­fer­ing his­tor­i­cal tours.

The Hays County Com­mis­sion­ers Court ap­points res­i­dents to the com­mis­sion ev­ery other Jan­uary. Ap­pli­ca­tions are avail­able on the com­mis­sion’s web­site, www.hayshis­tor­i­cal­com­mis­sion.com. They should be turned into Hays County Judge Bert Cobb’s of­fice.
