The company agreed to invest at least $56.5 million in the first phase of expansion by the end of 2015. It proposes to invest another $226 million in phase two of the project, which is due to be completed at the end of 2021.
It appears Apple has started hiring workers to be part of the project, which the company calls its Americas Operations Center. The Apple jobs website lists 18 job openings for Austin, including one for “Brazil Subject Matter Expert — Finance.”
A revised engineering plan for the site submitted to the city says the project will eventually have seven buildings, slightly more than 1 million square feet of space, and three parking structures providing 5,500 parking spaces.
Conor Commercial, the project developer, informed the city of Austin in a recent update that it is making progress in reaching out to minority contractors that can bid on the work.
Conor has hired a minority outreach consultant for the project and it is exceeding city quotas in minority contractors for the first phase of the work.
“We are certain, that
