The com­pany agreed to in­vest at least $56.5 mil­lion in the first phase of ex­pan­sion by the end of 2015. It pro­poses to in­vest an­other $226 mil­lion in phase two of the project, which is due to be com­pleted at the end of 2021.

It ap­pears Ap­ple has started hir­ing work­ers to be part of the project, which the com­pany calls its Amer­i­cas Op­er­a­tions Cen­ter. The Ap­ple jobs web­site lists 18 job open­ings for Austin, in­clud­ing one for “Brazil Sub­ject Mat­ter Ex­pert — Fi­nance.”

A re­vised en­gi­neer­ing plan for the site submitted to the city says the project will even­tu­ally have seven build­ings, slightly more than 1 mil­lion square feet of space, and three park­ing struc­tures pro­vid­ing 5,500 park­ing spa­ces.

Conor Com­mer­cial, the project de­vel­oper, in­formed the city of Austin in a re­cent up­date that it is mak­ing progress in reach­ing out to mi­nor­ity con­trac­tors that can bid on the work.

Conor has hired a mi­nor­ity outreach con­sul­tant for the project and it is ex­ceed­ing city quo­tas in mi­nor­ity con­trac­tors for the first phase of the work.
