Alamo Drafthouse plans Brooklyn theater
Austin-based Alamo Drafthouse’s recent growth spurt continues, with the company announcing plans Monday to open a third New York City theater.
The cinema will have seven screens and will be located in City Point, a new 1.8 millionsquare-foot mixed-use project currently under construction in downtown Brooklyn. It should open in 2015, Alamo said.
Theaters are also in the works in Yonkers and on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
“Although more than two years on the horizon, I can tell you that the City Point Brooklyn Alamo will be our best theater yet,” Alamo founder and CEO Tim League said.
The chain also is building theaters in several other cities, including San Francisco.
