Lee wins tour­ney for PGA qual­i­fy­ing

D.H. Lee of South Korea birdied his fi­nal three holes for a 67 to win the PGA Tour’s qual­i­fy­ing tour­na­ment in La Quinta, Calif., by one stroke, giv­ing him the high­est pri­or­ity rank­ing for next year and a $50,000 check. Lee fin­ished with a 25-un­der 407 in the six­day event. Two years af­ter play­ing for Europe on a win­ning Ry­der Cup team, Ross Fisher (66) of Eng­land tied Steve Le­Brun (69) for sec­ond in the fi­nal Q-school where play­ers could go straight to the PGA Tour. Erik Comp­ton, who has gone through two heart trans­plants, made it back to the tour by ty­ing for sev­enth.
