The Rosewood Courts Apartments, 2001 Rosewood Ave., could be transformed into a sustainable mixedincome community thanks to a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant.

The Housing Authority of the city of Austin received the $300,000 Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant to revitalize the apartments, a public housing site built in 1939, and bring a larger selection of public services to the community such as better schools, public transit and employment opportunities, a news release said.

The Housing Authority and its affiliate Austin Housing Finance Corporation will launch the planning process with an event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rosewood Courts Apartments. Rosewood Court residents and surrounding neighborhood residents and businesses are invited to the kick-off event.
