Board names in­terim su­per­in­ten­dent


The Hays school board unan­i­mously chose Deputy Su­per­in­ten­dent Carter Scherff as the in­terim su­per­in­ten­dent at a spe­cial board meet­ing Mon­day. The ap­point­ment will take place once Su­per­in­ten­dent Jeremy Lyon, who has been named the lone fi­nal­ist for su­per­in­ten­dent in the Frisco school district, of­fi­cially ten­ders his res­ig­na­tion.

Scherff has worked in the district since 2003. This will be his sec­ond stint as in­terim su­per­in­ten­dent. He held the po­si­tion in 2009 be­fore Lyon joined the district.

The board also so­licited bids from search firms and con­sul­tants to help find su­per­in­ten­dent can­di­dates. It ex­pects to choose a firm in Jan­uary.

San Mar­cos is look­ing for an in­di­vid­ual or fam­ily that meets the low-in­come and other eli- gibil­ity re­quire­ments for a no-in­ter­est home loan, a city news re­lease said.

The city is sell­ing a re­ha­bil­i­tated three-bed­room, twobath home at 1700 Ra­mona Cir­cle as a part of the pro­gram, which is funded through a Texas De­part­ment of Hous­ing and Com­mu­nity Af­fairs grant.

The city is hold­ing an ap­pli­cant in­for­ma­tion work­shop at 5:30 p.m. Thurs­day at the South­side Com­mu­nity Cen­ter, 518 S. Guadalupe St., for those who are in­ter­ested in learn­ing more.
