Ex-goalie dies at 41 of stroke
Miguel Calero, the former Colombia goalkeeper who played for more than a decade with Mexican club Pachuca, died Tuesday in Mexico City of complications following a stroke. He was 41.
■ Prosecutors announced they are charging three players, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old, with manslaughter, assault and public violence for their alleged involvement in a vicious attack on Richard Nieuwenhuizen after a youth match between two local Dutch clubs outside of Amsterdam. Nieuwenhuizen, 41, was beaten following a match Sunday where he was a linesman. He died Monday. Prosecutors have released no details of a possible motive.
