Ex-re­ceiver gets six months for bat­tery

Po­lice say David Bos­ton punched woman in head.

Former NFL re­ceiver David Bos­ton was sen­tenced Fri­day in West Palm Beach, Fla., to six months in jail and five years of pro­ba­tion for punch­ing a woman.

Bos­ton, 34, pleaded guilty to ag­gra­vated bat­tery last month. Au­thor­i­ties say Bos­ton had been drink­ing at a Boca Ra­ton home in Novem­ber 2011 when he punched a woman twice in the head, leav­ing a wound re­quir­ing 10 stitches.

Bos­ton played at Ohio State and went to the Pro Bowl with the Car­di­nals in 2001. He also played for the Charg­ers and Dol­phins.

Bears: Cor­ner­back Tim Jen­nings, who leads the NFL with eight in­ter­cep­tions, will miss Sun­day’s game at Min­nesota with a shoul­der in­jury.

Broncos: De­fen­sive end Von Miller was fined $25,000 by the NFL for his hit be­low the knee of Tampa Bay quar­ter­back Josh Free­man on Sun­day.

Fal­cons: Safety Wil­liam Moore (ham­string) and cor­ner­back Asante Sa­muel (right shoul­der) missed prac­tice for the third straight day and are ques­tion­able for Sun­day.

Giants: Safety Tyler Sash (ham­string) and tight end Travis Beckum (knee) won’t play Sun­day.

Jets: Tight end Dustin Keller will likely not play Sun­day af­ter be­ing side­lined all week at prac­tice with a sprained left an­kle. He is listed as doubt­ful, while wide re­ceiver Clyde Gates (con­cus­sion) is out.

■ Au­thor­i­ties who raided In­di­ana prop­er­ties owned by former Jets of­fen­sive line­man Ja­son Fabini and his brother searched three more Fort Wayne sites. The FBI hasn’t said why the Safe Streets Task Force raided the sites. The group is com­prised of fed­eral, state and lo­cal of­fi­cers and fo­cuses on gangs and il­le­gal drugs and firearms.

Lions: De­fen­sive tackle Nick Fair­ley was fined $15,750 by the NFL for his horse-col­lar tackle of Indianapolis quar­ter­back An­drew Luck on Sun­day.

Pack­ers: Green Bay will be with­out five starters for Sun­day night’s game against the Lions. Line­backer Clay Matthews (ham­string), safety Charles Wood­son (col­lar­bone), re­ceiver Jordy Nel­son (ham­string), run­ning back James Starks (knee) and de­fen­sive end C.J. Wil­son (knee) won’t play. The forecast calls for heavy snow in Green Bay.

■ Pack­ers cor­ner­back Tra­mon Wil­liams was fined $21,000 by the NFL for his hel­met-to-hel­met hit on Min­nesota’s Toby Ger­hart on Sun­day.

Pa­tri­ots: With eight more re­cep­tions, re­ceiver Wes Welker would be­come the first player in NFL his­tory with five 100catch sea­sons. Marvin Har­ri­son and Jerry Rice are the only other play­ers with four sea­sons of at least 100 re­cep­tions.

Steel­ers: Line­backer La­Marr Wood­ley will miss his sec­ond con­sec­u­tive game Sun­day with a high an­kle sprain.

Ti­tans: Line­backer Colin McCarthy will miss his sec­ond con­sec­u­tive game be­cause of a con­cus­sion, and his sixth over­all, when the Ti­tans visit Indianapolis on Sun­day. Re­ceiver Damian Wil­liams (ham­string) also is out.

Vik­ings: Ground­break­ing for the new $975 mil­lion sta­dium is ten­ta­tively set for Oc­to­ber 2013. The sta­dium will be built on the site of the former Metrodome. The Vik­ings hope to open the new sta­dium in time for the 2016 sea­son.
