Trail run­ners are ran­kled by re­moval of water jugs

Run­ners look­ing for a swig of water from jugs along the trail around Lady Bird Lake have been out of luck in re­cent weeks af­ter the city de­ter­mined that the cool­ers need health de­part­ment ap­proval.

The news has ran­kled trail users used to en­joy­ing the free chilled water. One provider of the water jugs, Rogue Run­ning, posted a no­tice on Face- book, let­ting cus­tomers know it didn’t want to re­move its con­tain­ers. Some trail users started a pe­ti­tion, ask­ing the city to again al­low the water jugs, which have been gone for three weeks from the Ann and Roy But­ler Hike and Bike Trail and may re­turn next month.
