Public meetings on potential bond projects
The Austin school district is inviting the public to two meetings on potential bond projects.
The projects are from the former 2013-14 annual academic and facilities recommendations that were referred to the Citizen’s Bond Committee for possible inclusion in the next bond program, a district news release said. The district will provide child care and interpretive services during the meetings.
A meeting about the expanding needs of career and technical education is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bowie High School, 4103 Slaughter Lane. The district will hold a meeting on athletic program and facilities improvements at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bowie High School.
The Center for Child Protection has received a $5,000 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to help fund interpretation services for victims of child abuse and neglect.
The Center for Child Protection is a child advocacy center for forensic interviews, medical exams, counseling and intervention during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases.
Last year, 15 percent of the 725 children who received a forensic interview at the center were interviewed in their native language, according to a news release.
