Visa Inc. to open Austin facility
Global information technology center to add nearly 800 jobs.
Visa Inc. confirmed Tuesday that it will build a global information technology center in Austin.
The company told the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce that it will move forward with the project proposed for 12301 Research Blvd., the former headquarters of Emerson Process Management, which relocated to Round Rock.
“This is another great corporate citizen and world-renowned company that has selected Austin,” said Dave Porter, the chamber’s senior vice president for economic development. “It is a great way to end a really good year for Austin.”
The decision to build the new center came just a few days after the Austin City Council voted 7-0 to give the company a $1.6 million incentives package over 10 years. The city incentive matches a state offer of $7.9 million in incentives for the project from the Texas Enterprise Fund.
