Elections official’s ouster sought
County Republican Party cites problems with Jarrell election.
ROUND ROCK — After a November election in which some voters in Jarrell weren’t given proper ballots, the Williamson County Republican Party has issued a resolution seeking the ouster of county elections administrator Rick Barron.
The resolution requests that Williamson County Judge Dan Gattis convene a meeting of the election commission, which has the authority to ask for Barron’s resignation. Gattis emailed commission members this week, said county spokeswoman Connie Watson.
Barron declined to comment.
The commission can recommend Barron’s removal only if four of the five members vote in favor of it. County commissioners make the ultimate decision, Watson said.
The members of the commission include Gattis, the chairs of the Williamson Democratic and Republican parties, County Clerk Nancy Rister and Tax Assessor-Collector Deborah Hunt.
