Council approves fees for fitness trainers
The Dripping Springs City Council passed a new rule during their meeting on Tuesday that establishes guidelines for fitness trainers using city parks.
The change, which requires trainers to register with the city, is similar to ones made by Leander and Austin in the past year. As part of the change there will be a new $10-per-session monthly fee for trainers using city parks for boot camps and training sessions. Council member John Kroll voted against the ordinance.
City Administrator Michelle Fischer said city officials wanted to have a list of personal trainers doing business in city parks for liability reasons. The ordinance also would allow city officials to be able to make sure parks aren’t damaged or overused. The change likely would go into effect by early January, Fischer said.
