Crad­dick ap­pointed to rail­road panel

Gov. Rick Perry has ap­pointed Christi Crad­dick to the Texas Rail­road Com­mis­sion, giv­ing her a two-week head start on a post she was elected to in Novem­ber.

Perry said Wed­nes­day that ef­fec­tive Dec. 17, Crad­dick will fill the va­cancy cre­ated by Com­mis­sioner Buddy Gar­cia’s res­ig­na­tion.

An at­tor­ney and Austin res­i­dent, Crad­dick will re­main in the post through De­cem­ber. She will then be­gin her sixyear, elected term as com­mis­sioner Jan. 1.

The gov­er­nor tapped Gar­cia in April to fill a va­cancy on the com­mis­sion af­ter Elizabeth Ames
