Boudoir Queen finds home in Austin
There’s good news for fans of the clothing line Boudoir Queen, created by Trailblazer Award-winning designer Dawn Younger-Smith. The Boudoir Queen 2013 collection is now being carried at Wanderlust Boutique and Gallery, marking the first time in years the clothing has been available at a local retailer.
Wanderlust will feature Boudoir Queen outfits in creative in-store displays each month. Younger-Smith’s pieces were featured earlier this year at Austin Fashion Week, where audiences gave them a standing ovation. The vintageinspired looks were a nod to Tennessee Williams’ Southern Gothic movie “Baby Doll.”
Shoppers will get a chance to meet Younger-Smith at a Wanderlust fashion event at 7 p.m. Dec. 28. Snacks and drinks will be served. The event is free.
Younger-Smith has been designing for more than a decade and has a client list that includes celebrities such as Martina McBride and Shawn Colvin. Younger-Smith has a home studio in the Victorian district of Smithville and her fashion business name was inspired by a collection of boudoir dolls she owns.
Wanderlust Boutique and Gallery is located at 1601 Koenig Lane. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The Boudoir Queen’s online shop, theboudoirqueen.com, will continue to be operational.
