Austin-area gas prices down another 6 cents
Like the rest of the nation, the Austin area is seeing prices at the gas pump continue to drop.
The average price for a gallon of gas dropped 6 cents this week to $3.10, according to auto club AAA Texas. Gas prices in Central Texas have declined by 9 cents per gallon in the past three weeks, according to AAA data.
For Texas as a whole, the average price per gallon dropped 5 cents to $3.09. Meanwhile, the national average dropped 8 cents to $3.38 per gallon, according to AAA data. Gas prices have steadily declined due to lower oil prices and because U.S. demand for gasoline continues to be low, industry experts say.
