Federal officials OK loan to fund rail line
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood’s office said Friday he’s approved a $120 million loan to fund construction of new light rail leading to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
LaHood’s office said in a statement that the loan will advance construction on Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s Orange Line expansion. The extension is slated to connect downtown Dallas and the airport.
The federal loan is expected to be used to fund construction of about five miles on the Orange Line. The money comes from the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act.
