Nat­u­ral­ist pro­gram to be­gin new classes

The Lost Pines Chap­ter of the Texas Master Nat­u­ral­ist pro­gram is plan­ning new train­ing ses­sions that will be­gin with an ori­en­ta­tion class on Feb. 4 and end­ing with grad­u­a­tion on May 20.

Evening classes are sched­uled for 6:30 to 9 p.m. Mon­days two or three times a month. There are also five Satur­day morn­ing field trips planned.

The goal of the pro­gram is to de­velop a group of wellinformed vol­un­teers who pro­vide ed­u­ca­tion, outreach and ser­vice ded­i­cated to the ben­e­fi­cial man­age­ment of nat­u­ral re­sources in nat­u­ral ar­eas in their com­mu­nity. The chap­ter serves pri­mar­ily Bas­trop and Cald­well coun­ties.

A pre­lim­i­nary class sched­ule and ap­pli­ca­tion forms are avail­able at the chap­ter web­site at lost­pines­mas­ter­nat­u­ral­ist.org. Com­pleted ap­pli­ca­tions will be taken un­til Jan. 16 at the Bas­trop County Ex­ten­sion Of­fice, at 901 Pecan St. in Bas­trop.
