Lochte wins two more races

Ryan Lochte won two more races at the short­course world cham­pi­onships in Is­tan­bul, fin­ish­ing with six golds and one sil­ver. The re­sult matched his medal to­tal from the last cham­pi­onships, in Dubai in 2010.

The five-time Olympic cham­pion won the 100me­ter IM in 51.21 sec­onds. Lochte then joined the U.S. team of Matthew Gre­vers, Kevin Cordes and Thomas Shields to win the 4x100 med­ley re­lay in 3:21.03. Lochte also won sil­ver in the 200 back­stroke.

■ Texas se­nior Laura Sogar took sil­ver in the 200 breast­stroke to go with her bronze in the 400 med­ley re­lay at the world cham­pi­onships. Former Longhorn Kath­leen Hersey was sixth in the 100 but­ter­fly. Ex-Horn Jimmy Feigen was sixth in the 100 freestyle af­ter shar­ing gold in the 400 freestyle re­lay.
