County might pay to expand recycling
County staffers are asking for recycling at the vast majority of county offices outside of downtown Austin, which lack on-site recycling or only recycle paper.
County staffers are recommending county commissioners hire a vendor to pick up recycling at 26 offices.
A new contract for singlestream recycling — which accepts plastics, glass and aluminum — would cost up to $66,900, according to a county estimate.
The commissioners meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at 700 Lavaca St. in Austin.
