‘Break­fast at Tif­fany’s’ to be put in na­tional ar­chives

WASHINGTON — “Break­fast at Tif­fany’s,” “Dirty Harry” and “A League of Their Own” are be­ing pre­served for their en­dur­ing sig­nif­i­cance in Amer­i­can cul­ture, along with “A Christ­mas Story” and some pi­o­neer­ing sports movies.

On Wed­nes­day, the Li­brary of Congress is an­nounc­ing 25 films it will in­duct into the Na­tional Film Reg­istry. Congress cre­ated the pro­gram in 1989 to pre­serve films with cul­tural or his­tor­i­cal sig­nif­i­cance.
