Move to renewable energy, efficiency

Austin American-Statesman - - VIEWPOINTS - Kunda LWicce Austin

My deepest wish is that every American child and their future children will be able to see polar bears and their cubs living well on their polar cap of ice. I wish that scientists’ warnings about huge climate changes ahead will be heeded by President Barack Obama, by the fossil fuel mega-corporations, by the American people and by Congress. And since we already have in reserves five times more than is needed to kick us into climate chaos, I wish President Obama will stop all fossil fuel exploration in our public lands, offshore, in the shales, and in the Arctic and say no to the gooey toxic mix of benzene and tar. I wish our government would abruptly end every penny of support for fossil fuels and move us swiftly to renewable energy and serious energy efficiency. I fervently wish that millions of people living along the coasts of every continent will not be displaced by the rising oceans.
