Preparations for the Belmont Village Assisted Living Center on Bee Cave Road are moving forward following a West Lake Hills City Council decision Dec. 13 to approve a building permit for the facility.

The proposed 141-unit assisted living center will cover more than 100,000 square feet on a 13-acre tract near the intersection of Bee Cave Road and Buckeye Trail.

The council postponed a decision on the case involving resident Charles Attal and his alleged removal of trees from his property without a permit. City officials are continuing negotiations to reach a settlement in the case. The city had threatened a lawsuit and criminal charges that could have totalled several thousand dollars.
