Health board member Haley leaving post

- — MARY ANN ROSER, AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF

Anthony Haley, a Central Health board member since 2009, said he plans to leave the hospital district board and has asked not to be reappointed to a four-year term.

Haley, a lawyer and founder of the lobbying firm HRWK Inc., said he reached the decision to avoid any conflicts of interest that could arise between his board service and his representation of the Baylor Health Care System during the upcoming state legislative session.

Haley was the board’s secretary and recently was named treasurer. His departure follows Vice Chairman Frank Rodriguez’s announcement that he is stepping down. County commissioners will interview four applicants who want to succeed Rodriguez in January, said Deece Eckstein, the county’s intergovernmental relations coordinator.

Haley’s position on the ninemember board is the only one that county and city officials appoint together.

Anyone interested in being considered for the volunteer post for which members are not paid, can contact Eckstein at 854-9754 or by email at Deece.Eckstein@co.travis. tx.us.
