Seton tea, hat competition set for Jan. 19
LAKEWAY — Lakeway Associates of Seton members are putting their heads and hats together for their annual High Tea at 11 a.m. Jan. 19 at The Hills Country Club.
“We are honored to have Karen Atwell, Melanie Reese and Emily Champ from the high-fashion store Suzie D’s as judges for our annual hat competition,” event co-chair Barbara Beebe said. “Everyone is encouraged to wear their finest chapeaus.”
This year the Lakeway Associates of Seton did not mail hard-copy invitations to the group’s annual tea.
“We wanted to cut expenses and donate even more to the music and recreational therapy programs at Seton Shoal Creek Hospital,” said event co-chair Cindy Kotrady.
Deadline for reservations is Jan. 9, but attendees are encouraged to make their reservations now before the event sells out. Guests may decorate a table for 10 and compete for prizes, or be seated individually. Decorations range from the elegant to the outrageous. All attendees will help pick the winners.
Seton Shoal Creek Hospital is the only mental healthcare facility in Central Texas that treats children, teens and adults.
“Lake Travis-area residents who need urgent psychiatric care are often referred to Shoal Creek,” said Kim Nearburg, Lakeway Associates president. “Our group is the hospital’s largest donor, providing over $35,000 in 2012.”
The cost for the event is $30 per person. Checks can be made out to Lakeway Associates of Seton and mailed to Beebe at 712 Vanguard, Lakeway, Texas 78734.
