Aeros knock off Stars in over­time

Af­ter a back-and-forth and very phys­i­cal game, the Texas Stars fell in over­time 4-3 to the Aeros in Hous­ton.

Hous­ton’s Kyle Med­vec scored the win­ning goal just two min­utes into over­time.

Hous­ton’s Mikael Gran­lund struck first, send­ing a wrist shot to the top left cor­ner of the net past Cristo­pher Nil­storp at 7:28 in the first pe­riod. Stars left winger Matt Fraser slid a loose puck past Aeros goal­tender Matt Hack­ett, evening the score 1-1 at 13:08.

Hous­ton re­gained the lead at 3:31 into the sec­ond with a Nick Palmieri back­hand shot, but the Stars an­swered five min­utes later with a one­timer from Cody Eakin on a power play. Hous­ton closed the sec­ond pe­riod with Char­lie Coyle’s power-play goal at 17:05 to make it 3-2.

The Stars’ An­toine Rous­sel slipped the puck around Hack­ett and just over the goal line six min­utes into the third. The goal was up­held af­ter a re­view, evening the score at 3-3.
