Aeros knock off Stars in overtime
After a back-and-forth and very physical game, the Texas Stars fell in overtime 4-3 to the Aeros in Houston.
Houston’s Kyle Medvec scored the winning goal just two minutes into overtime.
Houston’s Mikael Granlund struck first, sending a wrist shot to the top left corner of the net past Cristopher Nilstorp at 7:28 in the first period. Stars left winger Matt Fraser slid a loose puck past Aeros goaltender Matt Hackett, evening the score 1-1 at 13:08.
Houston regained the lead at 3:31 into the second with a Nick Palmieri backhand shot, but the Stars answered five minutes later with a onetimer from Cody Eakin on a power play. Houston closed the second period with Charlie Coyle’s power-play goal at 17:05 to make it 3-2.
The Stars’ Antoine Roussel slipped the puck around Hackett and just over the goal line six minutes into the third. The goal was upheld after a review, evening the score at 3-3.
