Christ­mas tree re­cy­cling starts

Waste Man­age­ment of­fers free tree re­cy­cling at the Wil­liamson County Land­fill through Jan. 12.

The land­fill is at 600 Land­fill Road, be­tween U.S. 79 and Texas 29. It’s open Mon­day through Fri­day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Satur­days from 7 a.m. to noon. It’s closed on Sun­days. The land­fill also serves as a col­lec­tion point for the Hutto Food Pantry. Vis­i­tors are in­vited to do­nate non-per­ish­able food when they drop off their trees. The land­fill pro­vides mulch from the trees to Wil­liamson County res­i­dents at no charge.

Christ­mas trees will also be ac­cepted through Jan. 31, at no charge, at the city of Ge­orge­town Col­lec­tion Sta­tion.

Mulch is avail­able, year­round, free-of-charge at the col­lec­tion sta­tion, lo­cated at 250 W.L. Walden Drive. Hours are Mon­day through Satur­day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Texas Dis­posal Sys­tem cus­tomers can also call 930-1715 to sched­ule a Christ­mas tree pickup on Jan. 12.

The Wil­liamson County Re­gional An­i­mal Shel­ter is of­fer­ing $12 pet adop­tions for dogs, pup­pies, cats and kit­tens un­til the end of De­cem­ber, ac­cord­ing to the Wil­liamson County web­site.

The shel­ter is open noon to 6 p.m. Mon­day through Fri­day and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Satur­day and Sun­day at 1855 S.E. In­ner Loop. To view the shel­ter’s adopt­able pets on­line, go to pets.wilco.org.
