Re­cy­cling of­fered for trees, bushes

The Kyle Parks and Recre­ation De­part­ment is of­fer­ing re­cy­cling for nat­u­ral Christ­mas trees, shrubs and bushes un­til Feb. 15.

Res­i­dents can drop off trees and bushes for re­cy­cling in des­ig­nated ar­eas in Gregg-Clarke, Steeple Chase and Water Leaf parks. Be­fore re­cy­cling Christ­mas trees, re­move all dec­o­ra­tions and stands. The re­cy­cled trees will be mulched for use in land- scap­ing in city parks.

San Marco Water/Waste­water util­ity crews will con­duct smoke tests on waste­water pipes start­ing at 9 a.m. Fri­day.

The tests in­volve in­tro­duc­ing smoke into the waste- water sys­tem near down­town con­struc­tion ar­eas to test the sys­tem’s in­tegrity. The smoke is non­toxic, leaves no residue and does not cre­ate a fire haz­ard.

The area sur­veyed in­cludes the in­ter­sec­tions of CM Allen Park­way and Hop­kins Street, Guadalupe and Univer­sity Drive, Univer­sity Drive and CM Allen Park­way. and Hop­kins Street and North LBJ.

The city es­ti­mates that the test­ing will be com­pleted by the end of the work­day Fri­day.
